Join the University of Toronto as a Research & Development Associate in a hybrid role focusing on political donations and lobbying analysis. This part-time position offers unique research opportunities.

The Faculty of Information seeks a Research & Development Associate to support Professor Rohan Alexander’s NSERC Alliance project. Collaborate with the Investigative Journalism Foundation from September through April, working 15-20 hours weekly. This position allows for engagement with creative research and offers the potential for pay increases as you grow.

Key Responsibilities:
• Support the Open by Default document collection initiative
• Process federal government access requests accurately
• Review and validate algorithm-generated data matches




• Prepare detailed technical reports for submission to academic venues
• Interact with the IJF to enhance project outcomes

Requirements:
• Strong eye for detail and efficiency improvements
• Data handling experience preferred
• Python proficiency welcomed for automation tasks
• Must work in person on either Monday or Wednesday
• Enthusiasm for public-interest journalism
