At Surgo Studios , we get to work on some pretty great projects with some pretty great people.
Our shoots can look very different from one week to the next — events, podcasts, interviews, corporate shoots, social content, cinematic projects, weddings, headshots, and everything in between. As we take on more productions, we’re looking for experienced videographers and photographers in Ottawa who we can bring onto projects with us.
We’re looking for people who really know their way around a camera, but more importantly, know what to look for when they’re behind one.
What we’re looking for Skilled videography and photography experience
A strong portfolio that shows your actual work behind the camera
Experience covering events
Comfortable shooting interviews, talking heads, corporate and social content
Familiar with podcast production, including multi-camera setups, lighting, framing, and audio
A good artistic eye for composition, lighting, movement, and storytelling
Strong understanding of exposure, white balance, shutter speed, frame rates, focus, and working in different lighting conditions
Comfortable communicating with clients and guests on-site when needed
Able to give direction and make people feel comfortable in front of the camera
Able to work independently and make decisions without needing someone to direct every shot
Comfortable working as part of a larger production team
Positive attitude and easy to work with
Reliable, punctual, organized, and good at communicating
Able to deliver raw footage and photos in clearly labelled and organized folders
Comfortable working under pressure and in fast-paced production environments
Able to adapt quickly to last-minute changes in schedules, locations, timing,



or production needs — it’s part of the nature of our work
Your equipment You’ll need to have your own professional production setup, including:
Professional 4K camera
Professional tripod
Professional audio equipment for interviews and podcasts
Professional photography flash equipment
Enough batteries, memory cards, and storage for a full shoot
A big plus if you have Additional professional camera bodies for multi-camera or static setups
Additional professional lenses
Drone + appropriate certification
Video editing skills and experience with professional editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve
Professional lighting equipment
Access to a vehicle
Location Ottawa — Primary location Toronto / GTA — Applications welcome Pay: $22–$25/hour
This is contract/project-based work. Projects will depend on our upcoming productions, location, availability.
