This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Winter Seasonal Patroller, Highway Maintenance based in Canada.

This seasonal role is ideal for a safety-focused professional who wants to help keep Ontario highways safe and reliable throughout the winter months.
You’ll patrol provincial highways, monitor changing weather and road conditions, and help coordinate timely responses to emerging hazards.
The position combines highway surveillance with hands-on maintenance and operation of heavy equipment when required.
You’ll work closely with supervisors and operators to prioritize work and support safe, efficient highway operations.
The environment is dynamic, with scheduled patrols as well as on-call, night, and shift work depending on weather conditions.

Seasonal employment runs approximately from September through May, with potential opportunities for continued growth and advancement.

Accountabilities:

- Patrol Ontario provincial highways and accurately report road, traffic, and safety conditions.

- Monitor and document weather events, forecasts, and changing highway conditions to support operational decisions.

- Identify priority areas requiring attention and communicate recommendations to the lead hand or shop supervisor.

- Contact equipment operators and other personnel to bring additional resources on shift when required.

- Operate snowplow trucks, wheel loaders, and other heavy equipment as needed to support winter maintenance activities.

- Perform and assist with year-round highway maintenance, including pothole repairs, guardrail repairs, bridge and signage cleaning, and hazard remediation.

- Help identify and promptly address health, safety, and environmental concerns.





- Maintain clear communication with supervisors and team members while supporting safe and efficient operations.

- Follow established safety procedures, operational standards, and applicable highway maintenance requirements.

Requirements:

- Valid full G driver's license with a clear three-year driver's abstract; AZ or DZ licensing is preferred.

- Previous experience in highway maintenance or a related operational environment.

- Knowledge of provincial and/or municipal highway maintenance specifications.

- Experience operating snowplows, loaders, or other heavy equipment is an asset.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in changing and potentially high-pressure conditions.

- Strong observation, organizational, and decision-making skills, with a proactive approach to identifying hazards and operational priorities.

- Approachable, ethical, accountable, and committed to maintaining high standards of safety.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Word.

- Willingness to work outdoors in changing weather conditions and participate in shift, on-call, and overnight schedules when required.

- Local candidates are preferred due to the location and operational requirements of the work.
