Overview: We are seeking a Senior Front-End Engineer to help build and evolve a shared enterprise design system used across a large public-sector organization.

This role sits at the intersection of design, front-end development, and platform engineering.

You will work closely with designers, developers, accessibility specialists, and product teams to create and maintain reusable UI components, design tokens, and documentation that enable consistent, accessible, and high-quality digital services.

What you will be doing: Design, build, and maintain reusable design system components and patterns Develop production-ready component libraries using React and Type

Script (VueJS experience is a strong asset) Create and manage design tokens as the shared source of truth between design and code Keep Figma libraries, design tokens, and front-end code tightly aligned Improve developer experience and streamline design-to-code workflows Ensure components meet WCAG 2.1/2.2 Level AA accessibility standards Create clear technical documentation, usage guidelines, and contribution standards Support adoption by providing coaching and guidance to delivery teams Contribute to governance, release management, and versioning practices Advise on design system best practices and emerging front-end technologies Support knowledge transfer so the organization can sustain the system long-term What you must have:



Experience supporting enterprise-scale or large organizational design systems 5+ years of modern front-end development experience 3+ years of hands-on experience building or maintaining design systems / component libraries Strong proficiency with Type

Script and React or VueJS Advanced knowledge of HTML, CSS, modern Java

Script, and front-end architecture Experience creating and managing design tokens and design-to-code workflows Experience with Figma component libraries and variables Experience with Storybook or similar documentation tools Strong understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive design Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration skills Nice to have: Experience with monorepos and component versioning Automated testing for component libraries Accessibility testing tools and practices Agile delivery experience Experience developing governance models for shared platforms Open-source contributions Public sector or regulated environment experience Other Information: Contract: Approximately 18 months Hours: 35 - 40 hours per week Expected Rate: $100/hr Why This Role Matters Youll help create a high-quality, reusable design system that reduces duplication, improves accessibility and consistency, and allows many teams to deliver better digital services more efficiently.
