Job Description The Dispatcher / Transportation Planneris responsible forcoordinating daily transportation activities across a fleet of company drivers and equipment.
The successful candidate will build productive schedules,optimizeroutes,monitortransportation activity in real time, and work closely with drivers, operations teams, and customers to ensure safe and on-timepick-ups.
This role requiresstrong communicationskills, a sense of urgency, and the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
What you''re responsible for: Plan and dispatch daily transportation requirements across multiple locations.
Optimizeroutes and schedules to maximize fleet productivity and minimize transportation costs.
Coordinate pickups, deliveries, transfers, and material movements between AIM facilities and customer locations.
Monitor driver activity, equipment availability, and transportation performance throughout the day.
Communicate effectively with driversregardingschedules, route changes, delays, and customer requirements.
Work closely with yard operations, site managers, and transportation leadership to prioritize workloads and address operational challenges.
Respond quickly to service disruptions, equipment issues, traffic delays, and changing business needs.
Track key transportation metrics includingutilization, on-time performance, and load efficiency.
Ensure compliance with transportation regulations,
company policies, and safety standards.
Maintainaccuraterecords within dispatch, fleet management, and transportation systems.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve transportation performance and customer service.
Qualifications To join our team: A post-secondary qualification is preferred 2+ years of experience in dispatching, transportation planning,logistics, fleet operations, or a related field.
Experience coordinating drivers and equipment within a trucking or transportation environment.
Strong understanding of transportation operations, routing, and scheduling.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adapt to changing demands throughout the day.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiencywith Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
Experience with transportation management systems (TMS), dispatch software, or fleet management platforms is considered an asset.
