SCADA Engineer Our client, a leader in industrial automation, is seeking an experienced SCADA Engineer to join their team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, optimizing, and maintaining SCADA systems that support the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of industrial and utility environments.
Working closely with engineering teams, technical specialists, and other stakeholders, the SCADA Engineer will play a key role in system integration, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and ongoing system improvements.
Key Responsibilities Design, configure, develop, and implement SCADA systems and automation solutions.
Integrate SCADA platforms with PLCs, HMIs, databases, networks, and other control and monitoring systems.
Develop, maintain, and update technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams, specifications, configuration documents, and operating procedures.
Monitor SCADA system performance and proactively identify, diagnose, and resolve system issues.
Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, communications, and control-system issues.
Perform system upgrades, software patches, backups, and maintenance activities while minimizing operational disruptions.
Collaborate with electrical, controls, automation, IT, and other engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions.
Provide technical support, system training, and guidance to end-users and technical personnel.
Support commissioning, testing, deployment, and ongoing optimization of SCADA systems.
Implement cybersecurity best practices to protect industrial control systems and SCADA infrastructure.
Ensure SCADA solutions comply with applicable industry standards, regulations, safety requirements, and organizational best practices.
Manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting technical, quality, and delivery requirements.
Qualifications & Experience Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent education and relevant experience will also be considered.
Professional Engineer (P.
Eng.) designation in good standing is required. 35 years of professional experience as a SCADA Engineer, Controls Engineer, Automation Engineer, or in a similar role within an industrial or utility environment.
Strong hands-on experience with SCADA platforms such as ICONICS, Wonderware/AVEVA, Siemens, Ignition , or comparable systems.
Solid knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, industrial automation systems, and control architectures.
Experience with industrial communication and networking protocols, including Modbus, OPC/OPC UA , and related technologies.
Proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as SQL, Python, VBA ,
or similar.
Strong understanding of industrial networks, system architecture, databases, and data communications.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and develop effective solutions.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Robust organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Assets Certification or formal training in SCADA, industrial automation, controls, or related technologies.
Experience implementing industrial control system (ICS) cybersecurity practices.
Familiarity with data analytics, reporting, dashboards, and visualization tools.
Experience with system commissioning, integration, and field implementation.
Knowledge of relevant industrial automation standards and best practices.
