We are looking for a post-secondary student for a 12-week Student Work Placement The Manufacturing Automation Engineering Co-op student supports operational excellence initiatives by identifying, developing, and implementing automation and process improvement solutions within the manufacturing facility. The role focuses on improving equipment efficiency, maintenance tracking, barcode systems, inventory control processes, and data collection methods to reduce manual work and increase productivity.

Key Responsibilities

- Analyze manufacturing and administrative processes to identify automation opportunities,
- Develop and implement barcode, tracking, and data collection systems for our new cold corrugator technology,
- Support machine integration and automation projects,
- Create tools and workflows to improve preventive maintenance scheduling and reporting,
- Design and maintain systems for spare parts inventory tracking and automatic reordering,
- Assist with equipment performance monitoring and production data reporting,
- Develop dashboards, reports, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to support operational decision-making,




- Collaborate with maintenance, production, and purchasing teams to improve workflow efficiency,
- Document standard operating procedures and process improvements,
- Assist with testing, troubleshooting, and implementation of new technologies and equipment.

Qualifications:
- Enrolled in an Engineering program (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Manufacturing, etc.),
- Strong interest in manufacturing automation and process improvement,
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and data analysis,
- Familiarity with barcode systems, databases, Power BI, ERP systems, or programming tools is an asset,
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills,
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team.

Candidates must be enrolled in a post-secondary program that requires a co-op/work term. The expected term is September 14, 2026 to December 31, 2026 but could be adjusted, if required, by the candidate. Whitebird is dedicated to Employment Equality!
