This is a hybrid opportunity, requiring 2 days per week in our Etobicoke office.How You’ll Make an Impact:TheClaims Managermanages the end-to-end administration of occupational injury, illness, and disability claims in accordance with provincially regulated requirements. This role includes assessing claim eligibility, overseeing reporting and objections where appropriate, participating in appeals as the employer representative, and supporting recovery and timely return-to-work outcomes.The role ensures compliance with workers’ compensation legislation, human rights obligations, privacy requirements, and internal policies. Acting as a key point of contact for employees, leaders, healthcare providers, and external agencies, the Claims Manager balances employee well-being with operational and financial considerations. This role contributes to reducing claim duration, facilitating effective accommodations, and improving overall employee outcomes. This is an individual contributor role with no direct people management responsibilities.AsClaims Manager, you will:Claims Reporting, Assessment & AdministrationGather and review documentation in accordance with incident management processesDetermine claim eligibility and submit reports to the applicable Workers’ Compensation BoardSet up and maintain electronic claim files from initiation through to closureEnsure accuracy, completeness, and integrity of all claim‑related dataReview and reconcile monthly claim cost statements; investigate and resolvediscrepanciesReturn to Work & Accommodation CoordinationCollaborate with operational leaders to support modified work and return‑to‑work (RTW) plansLiaise with Workers’ Compensation Boards and treatment providers,
as requiredCoordinate and participate in RTW meetings to facilitate safe and timely employee reintegrationLegislative & Policy ComplianceMonitor changes in legislation and policy impacting occupational injury and disability managementProvide guidance and education to operational teams on updates affecting reporting and RTW practicesServe as a primary point of contact for internal stakeholders and external partners, including insurers and medical providersMaintain clear, consistent communication to support effective claim management and resolutionPrepare and submit objection letters and cost relief applications when appropriateRepresent the employer in second‑level (Review Division) and third‑level (Tribunal) appeals, as requiredParticipate in industry groups, qualified associations, and educational opportunitiesStay current on trends and best practices in safety, disability management, and HR to enhance organizational outcomesWhat You’ll Need to Succeed:Post‑secondary education in Human Resources, Occupational Health, Nursing, Kinesiology, Business Administration, or a related field3+ years of experience in occupational claims management, disability case management, workers’ compensation, or absence management within a provincially regulated Canadian environmentStrong knowledge of workers’ compensation legislation, human rights and duty to accommodate, privacy legislation, and occupational health and safety standardsExperience managing end‑to‑end claims, including eligibility assessment, reporting, file management, and cost monitoringAbility to coordinate return‑to‑work and accommodation plans with internal stakeholders, healthcare providers, and external agenciesExperience preparing objections, cost relief applications, and participating in appeals is an assetProficiency in claims management systems, HRIS platforms,
