We are seeking a talented and driven
**Automation Engineer**
to join our dynamic team.
In this role, you will play a critical part in designing, optimizing, commissioning, and troubleshooting automated manufacturing systems to ensure operational excellence, reliability, and efficiency.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support manufacturing operations, continuous improvement initiatives, and capital projects while ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
**How You'll Spend Your Day**
**Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:**
Design, commission, optimize, and troubleshoot computer-controlled processing equipment and automated systems.
Develop, review, and approve hardware, software, and control system designs for manufacturing equipment.
Evaluate and implement process control systems, data acquisition solutions, process monitoring tools, and manufacturing support requirements, including utilities, sensors, controllers, vision systems, equipment calibration, and packaging constraints.
Implement software and hardware upgrades and assess their impact on manufacturing processes, facilities, and operations.
Execute modification and change control procedures in accordance with established protocols.
Program, configure, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI applications for automated process equipment.
Interpret and work with electrical schematics, loop diagrams, and I/O signal documentation.
Analyze operational data and present meaningful insights using Business Intelligence (BI) tools.
Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Preventive Maintenance (PM) procedures, and calibration documentation.
Support the calibration program and collaborate with the calibration team as required.
Provide technical support to Project Engineers, particularly in the areas of process control and automation.
Manage assigned projects from initiation through completion, ensuring objectives, timelines, and budgets are achieved.
Prepare capital project requests, equipment procurement specifications, and vendor contracts in accordance with company guidelines.
Coordinate vendor inspections, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), equipment installation, and commissioning activities.
Support qualification activities by providing required documentation and technical expertise for IQ, OQ, and PQ protocols.
Ensure systems operate according to validated requirements and remain compliant within the site's change management framework.
Meet project deadlines and complete all required reports and documentation accurately and on time.
Maintain regular communication with the Director of Engineering regarding project status, risks, and schedules.
Adhere to cGMP principles and all applicable company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams to achieve departmental and organizational objectives.
Demonstrate commitment to the organization's core values and culture.
Perform all work in compliance with established safety, quality, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
**Your Skills and Experience**
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
Engineering Technology diploma may also be considered.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the design, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of industrial control systems.
Professional Engineer (P.
Eng.) designation or eligibility to obtain licensure is preferred.
Strong understanding of GMP, FDA, ISO standards, validation principles, and compliance requirements within regulated environments.
Proven hands-on experience with PLC and HMI programming, troubleshooting, and support in pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, or highly regulated manufacturing environments.
Knowledge of advanced automation technologies, including collaborative robots (cobots), robotics, machine vision systems, Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), and automated warehouse systems.
Strong expertise in process control systems and manufacturing automation.
Understanding of cGMP computerized systems, software quality systems, and sanitary equipment design principles.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, data analysis tools, and database management systems; CAD experience is considered an asset.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

The typical hiring range for this position is $98,160-$122,700.
The base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, education, and internal equity.
In addition to base salary, this role may qualify for an annual bonus based on employment type.
Certain positions may also be eligible for a sales commission structure as part of the overall compensation package.
