LNIB follows Indigenous governance principles and prioritizes community engagement, cultural knowledge, and sustainable development in all its operations.Join LNIB and be part of a team that is making a meaningful impact in the community while contributing to a dynamic and culturally rich workplace.POSITION SUMMARYThe Social Development Coordinator is responsible for the delivery, coordination, and continuous improvement of social development and income assistance programs for Lower Nicola Indian Band (LNIB).This role supports individuals and families through aholistic, client-centered approach, addressing barriers to wellness, employment, and self-sufficiency. The Coordinator works collaboratively across departments and external agencies to ensure culturally safe, trauma-informed,
and effective service delivery aligned with LNIB values and funding requirements.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESPROGRAM DELIVERY & CASE MANAGEMENTAdminister social assistance and related programs in accordance with ISC/Indigenous Services Canada guidelines and LNIB policiesConduct client intakes, needs assessments, and ongoing case managementDevelop individualized support plans focused on independence, employment readiness, and overall well-beingMonitor client progress and adjust supports as neededCLIENT SUPPORT & ADVOCACYProvide one-on-one support, guidance, and referrals to community membersAssist clients in accessing employment, education, housing, and health-related servicesAdvocate on behalf of clients with external agencies and service providersSupport clients through complex or crisis situations using a trauma-informed approachPROGRAM DEVELOPMENT & COMPLIANCEEnsure programs are delivered in compliance with funding agreements, policies, and reporting requirementsTrack program outcomes and contribute to reporting, proposals, and funding documentationIdentify gaps in services and recommend improvements or new initiativesSupport audits, file reviews, and program evaluationsCOMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & COLLABORATIONPromote awareness of social development programs within the communityCollaborate with internal departments (Health, Education, Economic Development, Housing, etc.) to support integrated service deliveryBuild relationships with external partners,
including government agencies and community organizationsParticipate in community events, outreach, and engagement initiativesADMINISTRATIVE & REPORTINGMaintain up-to-date client files and program documentationPrepare reports, statistics, and summaries as requiredSupport budgeting processes and tracking of program expendituresContribute to internal communications and reporting as neededQUALIFICATIONSDiploma or Degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field is an assetEquivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be consideredExperience working in social development, income assistance, or community support servicesExperience working with Indigenous communities strongly preferredDemonstrated experience in case management and client supportKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESStrong understanding of social assistance programs and socio-economic challengesAbility to apply trauma-informed and culturally safe practicesStrong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skillsExcellent organization, time management, and documentation skillsAbility to manage sensitive and confidential informationProficiency with Microsoft Office and case management or database systemsWORKING ENVIRONMENTOffice-based with frequent interaction with clientsExposure to sensitive and emotionally complex situationsOccasional travel or community outreach requiredPREFERENCEThe Lower Nicola Indian Band (LNIB) follows Section 25 of the Human Rights Code, giving preference to Indigenous applicants where applicable.#J-18808-Ljbffr
