**Job Title: Downhole Tool Technician**
**Job Description**
This role focuses on servicing downhole tools used in oil and gas operations.
You will receive rented tools from the field, clean and inspect them, disassemble and repair components, and reassemble and test the tools before they return to site.
The position involves working with heavy, oil- and mud-covered equipment in a busy service shop, using an overhead crane and sit-down forklift to safely move tubular tools that often weigh more than 50 lbs.
You will also support general housekeeping and shipping tasks to keep the service area organized and efficient, and may occasionally be on-call when operational needs arise.
**Responsibilities**
Receive rented downhole tools such as jars, shocks, mud motors and similar equipment on the service side of the facility.
Clean tools thoroughly upon arrival, including removing mud, oil and other contaminants from tubular equipment.
Disassemble tools and components to perform detailed inspections for damage, wear and defects.
Identify damaged or worn parts and replace components in accordance with service procedures and specifications.
Reassemble tools accurately, ensuring all components are installed correctly and safely.
Test tools after reassembly to verify proper function and readiness for return to the field.
Use an overhead crane and sit-down forklift to safely move heavy tubular tools and components, often weighing above 50 lbs.
Perform heavy lifting of up to 50 lbs as needed during handling, disassembly and assembly tasks.
Use measuring tools such as tape measures and calipers to verify dimensions and tolerances during inspection and assembly.
Read and follow blueprints, service manuals and work instructions when assembling, disassembling and repairing tools.
Complete work order documentation using a computer, accurately recording service activities, parts used and test results.
Support general shipping activities, including preparing serviced tools for dispatch back to site.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace, following housekeeping standards on the service side of the shop.
Collaborate with other team members in a busy shop setting to meet service deadlines and quality expectations.
Be available for occasional on-call assignments when operational needs require after-hours support.

Ability to perform heavy lifting up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
Proficiency using tape measures and calipers for measurement and inspection.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and service documentation.
Experience completing work order documentation using a computer.
Comfort working with tools and equipment covered in mud, oil and other contaminants.
Ability to work safely around heavy equipment and in a busy shop environment.
Strong attention to detail when inspecting, assembling and testing mechanical equipment.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
NTI (Magnetic Particle Inspection) certification or experience is a strong asset.
NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) experience or certification is an asset.
Valid forklift and overhead crane tickets are preferred.
Experience working with service manuals for mechanical equipment.
Prior experience in a high-volume oil and gas service or manufacturing shop.
Comfort working on the service side of a facility with both manufacturing and service operations.
Willingness to participate in occasional on-call rotations as needed.
**Why Work Here?**
You will join a large, busy shop environment that offers steady work and exposure to a wide variety of tools and service tasks.
The facility provides access to an on-site cafeteria for convenience during shifts.
The organization is part of a growing global oil and gas network, with positive growth trends anticipated in 2026, offering stability and future opportunity.
