The Facilities Electrical Technician is
responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing electrical, fire life
safety, and building automation systems across the facility.

This role supports
preventative maintenance, emergency response, and system upgrades while
ensuring compliance with codes, safety standards, and standard operating
procedures.

They collaborate with contractors and tradespeople, interpret
technical documentation, maintain accurate records, and contribute to asset
reliability, energy efficiency, and operational continuity through proactive
maintenance and problem-solving.
**What you do:**
Maintain, service, inspect, and repair electrical, firelife safety, and building automation systems, including but not limited topower distribution, emergency and backup systems, lighting and control systems,fire alarm systems, and communication systems.

Conduct routine and detailed inspections to identify wear,performance degradation, faults, loose connections, overloaded circuits orsafety and code compliance issues, etc.

Perform preventative maintenance following PM schedules,task checklists, manufacturer specifications, and industry best practices.

Typical tasks include inspecting wiring and connections, testing and calibratingdevices and sensors, and maintaining distribution, lighting, control, andautomation systems, etc.

Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues including but notlimited to electrical faults, power disruptions, control system errors, sensormalfunctions, or failures in lighting or automation systems.

Complete repairswithin trade scope, escalating complex issues.

Respond to alarms, service calls, tickets, and operationaldisruptions to support emergency response, maintain occupant safety, and ensurecontinuous building operations.

Implement temporary solutions and coordinatefollow-up repairs.

Coordinate the inspection, testing, maintenance, andoperation of electrical vaults, power distribution, fire alarm, and buildingautomation systems.

Act as the subject matter expert for troubleshooting,performance optimization, and system integration.

Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs,maintenance activities, and system modifications to support compliance,traceability, asset management, and knowledge sharing.





Prepare reportssummarizing work completed, issues identified, and recommendations forimprovements.

Monitor inventory of tools, consumables, and parts, andcoordinate reordering as needed to ensure maintenance readiness and operationalcontinuity.

Support capital and operational projects involvingelectrical, fire life safety, and building automation upgrades, replacements,and retrofits by reviewing design documents, provide input on maintainabilityof designs, coordinating infrastructure tie-ins and system shutdowns, andassisting with system integration.

Collaborate with engineers, consultants, and contractors toensure project compliance with all applicable codes, standards, drawings,specifications, and best practices.

Review and interpret technical documents such asblueprints, schematics, and specifications to ensure accurate installations andintegration with existing systems.

Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance systemperformance, energy efficiency, safety, and sustainability.

Contribute tolifecycle planning, energy management initiatives, asset management, andlong-term infrastructure improvements.

Adhere to all workplace safety regulations, environmentalcodes, trade standards, and legislation.

Stay current on regulatory updates andemerging technologies, and participate in training, toolbox talks, audits, andinspections to promote continuous improvement and a robust safety culture.

Identify and mitigate any hazardous situations, takingimmediate action to make safe and reporting unresolved concerns to supervisors.

Support inspections, maintenance, repairs, and projects asrequired, collaborating with tradespeople, contractors, and other personnelunder the supervisor's direction.

Guide assigned workers in the performance of the work, asrequired.

Acquire the annual electrical operating permit for the

Canada Place Facility.

Perform other assigned duties as required and operate toolsand equipment.
**What you bring:**
Completion of a high school diploma, along witha valid electrical trade certification and a minimum of 5 years ofpost-certification experience in electrical systems within a similarenvironment.
A valid electrical Field Safety Representative(FSR) Class A license is required.

Completion of fire alarm system testing andinspection course is required or must be obtained within 6 months ofemployment.

Proficiency in MS Office Suite, buildingautomation systems, and maintenance management systems is required.
A Registered Fire Protection Technician(ASTTBC) certification and formal training in building automation areconsidered assets.

Must be a dependable, safety-consciousindividual with strong technical knowledge of electrical,



fire life safety andbuilding automation systems.

Requires the ability to work independently andcollaboratively in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment while exercisingsound judgment and initiative.

Must be physically capable of performingdemanding tasks, including work in confined spaces, at heights, and near water.

Strong problem-solving, communication, andinterpersonal skills are essential for interacting effectively with teammembers, contractors, and the public.
A proactive approach to preventive maintenance,regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement is expected.

**Salary:**
The
starting rate for this position is $60.13 per hour, with scheduled wage
progression in accordance with the International Longshore and Warehouse Union
(ILWU) Local 517 collective agreement.
