**General Production Worker – Afternoon Shift**
**Job Description**
The general production worker supports daily operations in a shop and yard environment by handling, sorting, and moving rebar and other metal materials.
This role focuses on loading and unloading trailers, organizing metal into designated bins, and maintaining a clean and safe work area.
The position requires consistent heavy lifting, repetitive tasks, and comfort working in a physically demanding, often dirty environment on an afternoon shift.
**Responsibilities**
Pick up rebar and load it onto trailers, ensuring materials are properly positioned and secured.
Unload rebar and other metal materials from trailers and move them to designated areas in the yard or shop.
Measure products accurately and count bundles to confirm correct quantities and sizes.
Sort metal by moving it from one area into bins and organizing it according to type or specification.
Work as part of a team of 2–4 people to move heavy rebar, with each person lifting approximately 40–50 lbs consistently.
Clean up the yard and shop by removing unwanted waste, scrap metal, and debris.
Shovel dirt and other materials that accumulate in the shop or yard to maintain a tidy work area.
Perform general labor tasks such as sweeping, cleaning, and organizing workspaces.
Handle repetitive tasks safely and efficiently throughout the shift.
Follow instructions from supervisors and collaborate with team members to complete daily production and yard activities.
Adhere to safety procedures while working around metal, equipment, and moving vehicles in the yard and shop.
**Essential Skills**
Experience working in a shop or construction environment, including loading and unloading materials.
Ability to perform repetitive work safely and consistently over the course of a shift.
Comfort lifting up to 50 lbs on a regular and ongoing basis.
Previous outdoor or shop experience in a physically demanding role.
Ability to perform cleaning tasks such as sweeping and general housekeeping in a yard and shop setting.
Willingness to work in a dirty, labor-intensive setting involving heavy lifting and manual handling of scrap metal and rebar.
English comprehension sufficient to understand work instructions and safety guidelines.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
Machine shop experience.
Experience working with rebar, including cutting and bending.
Experience operating cranes in an industrial or shop environment.
Machine operator experience in a production or metal fabrication setting.
**Work Environment**
The role is based in a shop and yard environment focused on concrete reinforcing steel (rebar) and related metal products.
You will work both indoors and outdoors, handling metal, sorting scrap, and loading materials into bins and onto trailers.
The work is physically demanding, involves heavy lifting, and can be dirty due to metal handling, dirt, and debris in the yard and shop.
You will work as part of a small team of 2–4 people under the direction of on-site supervisors.
The position follows an afternoon shift schedule of 3:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., Monday to Friday.
Appropriate work attire suitable for a shop and yard setting, including safety-focused clothing and footwear, is required to perform the job safely.

**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
