Partner, Private Enterprise - Permanent - 19366About the OpportunityOur client is a full-service public accounting firm and a proud member of one of the world's top 15 accounting networks, with member firms in over 115 countries. The firm serves privately held businesses, entrepreneurs, high-net-worth individuals, and professional service firms across Canada and beyond, offering Bookkeeping & Payroll, Personal and Corporate Tax, Public Audit, Assurance, Government Incentives, and Advisory/Consulting services. They are currently seeking a Partner to lead their Private Enterprise practice. This is a senior leadership role for an experienced public accounting professional ready to own key client relationships, drive the strategic direction of the practice, and contribute to firm-wide growth and profitability. This position is primarily focused on Canadian private enterprise compilation, review, and tax work; experience with U.S.-connected clients, a U.S. CPA designation, and U.S. tax compliance knowledge is considered a strong asset.Duties include but are not limited to:Client Relationship & AdvisoryOwn key private enterprise client relationshipsAct as a trusted business advisor to owners and managementIdentify opportunities for tax, accounting, advisory, valuation, financing, succession, and other servicesParticipate in client planning and regular relationship reviewsPractice LeadershipLead the Private Enterprise practiceEstablish service standards, workflows, and quality expectationsMonitor capacity, deadlines, WIP, and realizationHelp determine appropriate pricing and engagement structuresTechnical & Quality OversightReview and approve significant financial statements, tax returns, and other deliverablesEnsure compliance with CPA standards, CRA requirements, and firm policiesProvide technical guidance to managers and staffEscalate complex accounting or tax matters where appropriatePeople & DevelopmentLead and mentor managers, senior accountants,



and junior staffParticipate in hiring and performance managementDevelop succession within the Private Enterprise groupEnsure appropriate delegation and review processesBusiness Development & Firm ContributionGenerate new business and expand existing client relationshipsDevelop referral relationships with lawyers, financial advisors, bankers, and other professionalsParticipate in networking and firm marketing initiativesContribute to firm strategy, culture, and profitabilityAbout YouCanadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation (required)15+ years of progressive public accounting experience, with significant leadership within the Private Enterprise / owner-managed business sectorProven track record owning key client relationships and acting as a trusted advisor to owner-managers and high-net-worth individualsDemonstrated experience leading a practice group, including workflow, capacity, WIP, and realization managementStrong technical expertise reviewing and approving compilation engagements, financial statements, and corporate/personal tax filingsDemonstrated success in business development, referral network building, and expanding client relationshipsProven ability to lead, mentor, and develop managers and staff, with experience in hiring and performance managementProficiency with tax preparation and practice management software (e.G., TaxCycle, CaseWare, Sage, QuickBooks) and comparable Canadian and US tax softwareU.S. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is a strong assetHands-on experience with U.S. personal income tax compliance (Form 1040, 1040NR, FBAR/FinCEN 114, Form 8938, Form 3520, etc.) is a robust assetFamiliarity with Canada-U.S. tax treaty positions, departure tax, and cross-border estate planning considerations is a strong assetAbout the JobThis is a permanent, full-time Partner-track position based in Markham, Ontario. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada and be able to work from the office 3-5 days per week (most days during busy season).Compensation range to be confirmed - commensurate with book of business, partnership terms, and experience.LROACC #J-18808-Ljbffr
