Please do not contact the recruiter directly.Work Schedule Standard (Mon-Fri)Environmental Conditions Adherence to all Positive Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Safety Standards, Cleanroom: no hair products, jewelry, makeup, nail polish, perfume, exposed piercings, facial hair etc... allowed, No contact lens allowed; prescriptive glasses will be provided, Office, Some degree of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs etc.) Job DescriptionSummary: Provides Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) support to the team, Operations and Pharmaceutical Development Services (PDS).Essential Functions: Provide EHS support to the department and site:Incident investigationsJHSC audit finding closuresRisk assessmentsDepartment specific trainingClient & auditor supportProvides Environmental SupportShips dangerous goods following the regulations and provide guidance to employees.Manages hazardous waste management program.Manages wastewater discharge program ensuring compliance with Sewer Use By-LawProvide Safety SupportConduct equipment reviewsCoordinate pre-start health and safety review completionDevelopment of safety programs such as lock out and machine guardingProvides Industrial Hygiene (IH) SupportAssist with IH assessments on existing products and evaluate technologies to improve containment.Makes recommendations for improving containment, engineering controls etc.,
where necessaryParticipates in work-teams to evaluate containment of existing processes and implement containment plans.Develops and Implements EHS ProgramsSafety examples:Equipment and process safety reviewsIndustrial hygiene examples:respiratory protection, noise, and air samplingEnvironment examples:Certificate of Approval for Air, NPRI, NSNRDevelops audit protocols, audit programs, procedures, and practices for the EHS ProgramsDevelop and conduct EHS trainingOrientation trainingMonthly safety talksDepartment specific trainingNew Project Risk AssessmentsAttends Kick-Off Meetings and ongoing Project MeetingsEvaluates containment/industrial hygiene for new projects.Potent Compound active-specific procedures and trainingLiaises with Project Managers, Process Engineers, and ClientsCompletes and/or assists with special EHS ProjectsProvide guidance, back-up and support to other EH&S team members and Health CentreSupport Respiratory Protection Program and Fit TestingReview and update the respiratory protection program, as necessary.Implement Positive Air Pressure Respirator (PAPR) maintenance and testing programs, as necessary.Conduct respirator fit testing for employees and clientsAssist in selection and use of respiratory protection, protective clothing, hearing protection and safety glasses.Perform alternating or rotating shift work (as required.Essential Functions:REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSEducation: B.Sc. in a related field EHS certificate program completionExperience:
Minimum 3 years of previous EHS experience Minimum 3 years of Industrial Hygiene training / experience Minimum 3 years of Chemical, manufacturing, or pharmaceutical work experienceKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Able to work in a fast-paced team environment. Previous experience conducting presentations / training. High integrity for dealing with confidential information. Demonstrated professionalism. Excellent interpersonal skills. Demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.Proficiency with the English Language.Standards and Expectations: Follow all Environmental Health & Safety Policies and Procedures. Work collaboratively with fellow team members, modelling positive team principles and partnering to meet project and departmental objectives. Carry out all duties within strict compliance to Patheon quality SOPs and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). Maintain workspace in a clean and orderly fashion.Actively engage in and adhere to departmental systems to maintain a smooth and efficient workflow (visual management, scheduling systems, etc.). Be client and patient conscious at all times. Understand Key Performance Indicators and strive to improve the performance of the team by identifying areas for system improvements and engage in problem solving. Models positive thinking and is open to change, motivating the team to adapt to shifts in priorities and new ways of working. Proactively identify areas for improvement in the execution of procedures. Communicate risks to timelines in a proactive manner.Consistently strives to improve skills and knowledge in related field.Compensation The estimated annualized pay range for this position in Ontario is $62,000.00–$82,700.00.
