Job Summary

Under the direction of the Principal, the Designated Early Childhood Educator will be responsible, in collaboration and partnership with the classroom teacher, to help students learn and grow through the implementation and set up of developmentally appropriate activities for students in the ELP kindergarten. They will work in partnership with the teaching team to listen, to respond and to provide guidance, feedback and/or resource supports as deemed appropriate to the families.

Education

University degree in early child development or a 2 year Post secondary diploma in Early Childhood Education. Registration in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators. Minimum of 2-3years recent experience in related child care required with current working knowledge of child development. Note -for some schools the position maybe designated bilingual and therefore working knowledge of the French language is required.

- Ability to work with minimum supervision within a multicultural environment and can respect and work with a diverse range ofstudentsand families of all backgrounds and abilities
- Demonstrates sensitivity to individual needs of studentsin a multi ethnic and multilingual environment
- Demonstrates initiative and creativity
- Ability to model healthy adult-child relationship and positive discipline
- Adapts well to changing demands
- Well developed computer literacy skills
- Works independently and as a member of a team
