And you're ready to step up and support leadership on site.As a Lead Hand – Property Care, you assist the Crew Leader in maintaining high-end residential properties and select commercial sites to the highest horticultural standard. You combine strong technical gardening skill with organization, customer service, and growing leadership responsibility.This is hands-on horticultural work — with increasing accountability and client-facing trust.What You'll Be Responsible ForAssist the Crew Leader in supervising, delegating, and coordinating daily work activities of a 2–3 person crewSupport the management of safety, quality, and productivity on job sitesPerform advanced horticultural services including pruning, plant care, fertilizing, and seasonal preparationComplete edging, mulching, seasonal cleanups, and detailed garden managementInstall seasonal colour and container plantingsAssist with irrigation and lighting maintenanceSupport enhancements including new plantings, garden expansion, and minor improvementsLeadership & ProfessionalismCommunicate professionally and courteously with customersParticipate actively in team meetings and company initiativesDemonstrate attention to detail and strong organizational skillsComplete daily logs, planning reports, and documentation as requiredConduct quality assessments and property inspectionsSupport Crew Leader with site consultations and technical inputTechnical Skill & EquipmentDemonstrate solid plant identification and cultural care knowledgePerform site calculations and material quantity take-offsOperate manual and power garden tools safely and efficientlyOperate compact equipment and yard loader where requiredOperate crew truck and trailerPerform daily preventative maintenance on tools and equipmentWhat Success Looks LikeProperties maintained to expert horticultural standardsWork completed within estimated hoursDaily documentation completed consistentlyStrong client trust and positive feedbackClean, organized trucks, equipment, and job sitesReliable support to the Crew Leader and teamWho This Role Is Perfect ForYou value the Hutten philosophy and professional standardsYou have at least 3 years of gardening experienceYou are strong in plant ID, pruning, and cultural careYou are detail-oriented and organizedYou are confident guiding others on siteYou are comfortable working outdoors in hot, cold, and wet weatherYou are skilled with manual and power garden toolsYou can read and understand landscape plansYou are comfortable using a smartphone for communication and reportingYou hold a valid Class A Restricted (AR) license or greater, or are willing and able to obtain one within 3 months of hire, and are confident operating trucks, trailers, and equipment safely and professionallyA horticulture diploma or certificate is an assetProperty Care operates throughout the growing season, typically from spring through late fall.
