Metro Vancouver seeks a dedicated Permitting & Enforcement Officer to ensure air quality regulation compliance. This full-time, temporary position plays a crucial role in monitoring industrial emissions and handling public complaints.
Operating within the Environmental Regulation & Enforcement Department, you will be tasked with inspecting sites, conducting odor surveys, and preparing detailed reports on air quality issues. Your expertise will help enforce and improve the efficacy of regional environmental regulations, ultimately benefiting public health and the environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct inspections for air, liquid waste, and solid waste compliance
• Evaluate facility emissions and prepare compliance reports
• Respond to and investigate public air quality complaints
• Draft recent permits and compliance letters as needed
• Collect and analyze data for pollution assessments
Requirements:
• Diploma in a science or technology field related to pollution
• Experience with environmental legislation and air quality
• Applied Science Technologist eligibility in B.C.
• Capability to research and negotiate with industries
• BC Class Driver's Licence required
