DescriptionAbout the ClientWe're seeking a compassionate caregiver for a woman in her early stages of dementia living in assisted living at Granite Landing in Cambridge. She was diagnosed with MCI in December 2023 and experienced a significant decline following hospitalization for pneumonia and UTI in January 2026, which resulted in delirium that advanced her cognitive symptoms. She experiences confusion, disorientation, difficulty separating dreams from reality, occasional hallucinations, and sundowning behaviors. She sometimes loses her sense of place, may not recognize familiar people correctly, and struggles with nighttime routines and sleep. While she receives support from the facility, she benefits greatly from consistent one-on-one attention to help reduce confusion and maintain engagement. She uses a walker or wheelchair for mobility, is generally capable of dressing herself and making her bed independently, though timing can be unpredictable due to sleep disturbances. She's small in stature (101 lbs) with stable weight but inconsistent food and fluid intake. Hydration has been an ongoing challenge. She responds well to prompting and redirection when someone is present to guide her.ResponsibilitiesProvide companionship and cognitive engagement during daytime visits to reduce confusion and isolation. Offer memory prompts, gentle redirection, and reality orientation as needed. Encourage and prompt regular fluid intake throughout visits. Accompany her to meals in alternative dining areas within the facility to provide variety and improve meal enjoyment. Support participation in activities and outings within or outside the facility. Assist with mobility support using walker or wheelchair as needed. Maintain a calm, patient presence that helps ground her when she's experiencing confusion or disorientation. Communicate observations about her condition, mood,
and any concerns to family members. What We're Looking ForExperience working with individuals with dementia, particularly those experiencing confusion, hallucinations, and sundowning.
