Your work setting at EXP EXP is seeking a

Junior Structural Designer, Buildings

to join our Hamilton office.



While there is an opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects the primary focus of this position is to assist our design team on structural design for the residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional projects.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

Assist with design of steel, concrete and masonry structures

Analyze the capacity of existing structures and design reinforcement, when required

Work with other senior and/or junior engineers collaboratively

Participate in design meetings with owner, architect, and other consultants

Participate in construction site meetings

Conduct site visits during construction to review work for general compliance to structural drawings and contract documents

What Your Experience Looks Like

Degree in Structural Engineering from a recognized university

Preferably 1 - 3 years’ experience in structural engineering with a focus on structural analysis and design in buildings

Experience with NBCC, CSA standards

Field experience on construction sites, conducting general reviews for compliance with drawings and specifications, and writing site reports

Experience with Etabs, SAFE, SAP and other similar Structural design software

Team player with the proven ability to work independently with minimum direction

Hard worker, who is eager and willing to assume responsibility

Commitment and dedication to client service as well as technical excellence





Demonstrated and effective communication skills and the ability to handle changing needs while working effectively with diverse groups

Strategic thinker with the ability to determine what work is required and draw rational conclusions from all available information

A valid driver’s license is required

The salary range for this role is between $60K - $75K. The actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certificates, and specific work location.
