Support students with hearing loss at Saskatoon Public Schools as a full-time, part time, or casual Educational Assistant. Use communication strategies like ASL to help students engage meaningfully in their education.
Saskatoon Public Schools is looking for dedicated Educational Assistants to assist students who are deaf or hard of hearing. As part of your role, you will utilize American Sign Language (ASL), Signed English, and assistive listening technology to enhance learning experiences and ensure equitable access to classroom materials. Your work will foster student independence, participation, and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
• Facilitate communication through ASL and other methods
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary school teams on IPPs
• Adapt instructional materials to suit individual needs
• Support students with personal care and medical needs
• Actively supervise student safety during activities
Requirements:
• Training in ASL or Signed English is required
• Experience with special education preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to handle physical demands of the role
• First Aid, CPR, and AED training beneficial
