Become a vital member of House of Friendship as a ShelterCare Support Worker, focusing on day shifts to support individuals facing homelessness. This role helps facilitate access to housing and health resources through compassionate service. In this casual, relief role, you are expected to work at least three daytime shifts monthly, assisting individuals in overcoming barriers to permanent housing.
You'll work directly with clients, building supportive relationships and improving their life skills while promoting inclusivity and dignity. Your crisis management and team collaboration skills will be crucial in this challenging environment. Key Responsibilities:
Engage meaningfully with participants in the shelter
Conduct thorough program orientation for new clients
Develop actionable and personalized housing strategies
Respond to emergencies and manage crises effectively
Aid in maintaining a clean and protected setting Requirements:
Two-year post-secondary education in relevant fields preferred
Experience providing support to marginalized communities
Strong relationship-building and communication skills required
Familiarity with harm reduction practices is an asset
