Become a BSL Specialist Support Assistant at Coastland College, delivering critical communication support for a profoundly deaf student. This position emphasizes Total Communication methods to promote independence and confidence. This part time role requires 18 hours per week during the academic year, with the aim of fostering an inclusive and accessible learning workplace.
You will play a key role in helping the student engage fully in educational and social prospects through effective BSL. Your commitment will shape their development into adulthood and community participation. Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate student communication through British Sign Language
Promote social interaction and independence during college life
Collaborate with educators to ensure a supportive learning atmosphere
Support personal growth and confidence in communication skills
Encourage participation in work placements and social activities Requirements:
BSL Level 3 qualification needed
Proven experience with deaf learners or communication needs
Dedication to fostering inclusive educational experiences
Excellent teamwork skills with educational staff
