Join Island Health as an Indigenous Liaison Nurse to empower Indigenous communities through qualified medical care. This role offers a chance to make a meaningful impact in a casual, multi-site capacity.
Reporting to the Manager, Indigenous Health, you will plan and implement nursing care tailored for Indigenous clients with wide-ranging health needs. Your role includes conducting assessments, managing cases, and providing culturally sensitive health teaching. Effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams is vital, as you ensure that clients maintain self-care and independence. Note that travel to various locations may be necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
• Organize and evaluate nursing care for Indigenous clients
• Perform health assessments and consult with healthcare teams
• Teach clients about health and wellness
• Facilitate referrals and liaising tasks
• Monitor adherence to nursing policies and standards
Requirements:
• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives
• BC Driver's License for transportation
• Community health knowledge specific to Indigenous clients
• Over two years’ experience within Indigenous communities
• Knowledge of culturally secure healthcare practices
