Grande Prairie & District Catholic Schools Invites Applications for:

MENTAL HEALTH CAPACITY BUILDING (MHCB) WELLNESS COACH FULL TIME (35-40 hours/week with the option of 4-5 days per week) The Grande Prairie District & Catholic schools is seeking a Wellness Coach to provide mental health promotion and prevention to staff, students and families. Working as part of a team, this position develops and delivers developmentally appropriate, evidence-based programming that focuses on increasing knowledge, building skills, and fostering abilities that enable others to better their own mental health and wellness.

Responsibilities include:

Developing and presenting classroom presentations on various mental health topics

Working with school staff, parents, and community members (who work closely with children and youth) to increase their knowledge, skills and competence related to mental health and illness issues in some schools across the district

Building and maintaining strong relationships and act as a connection to mental health subject matter experts for students, staff, parents, to specialized addiction and mental health services.





Provide opportunities to engage in healthy activities and interactions through planned community activities and events.

Ensuring all documentation follows HIA (Health Information Act) and FOIP and ensures compliance with all relevant AHS policies.

Desirable assets include:

Knowledge of addiction and mental health

Regesistrated for restricted psychosocial interventions

Familiar with the development, educational, emotional, social and recreational needs of children, youth and families

Experience with delivering programming and comfortable with public speaking

Strong relationship-building skills

Qualifications:

Only candidates that can be registered with ACSW or CAP are considered

Experience working with children and youth in a group setting

Working towards or completed a related post-secondary degree or diploma in social sciences or education. Other combinations of education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform in the position may be considered

The annual salary ranges from $60,655 - $95,182 based on experience. The role includes a comprehensive benefit package full paid for by the division.
