The OpportunityThe part-time Lead On-Ice Instructor role is responsible for running safe, enjoyable, and productive on-ice sessions to the participants in Ottawa Senators Hockey Programs (OSHP) at all Sensplex facilities.Number of vacancies: 1 – This is a newly created position.Key ResponsibilitiesResponsible for ensuring safe and enjoyable development sessions for participantsResponsible for following policies and procedures set out by OSHP Hockey Development TeamWork with Head of Hockey Development and Head Hockey Instructors to deliver on-ice programming and key themes & teaching pointsDelivering error-detection, correction, and instruction to program participantsAssist with preparation and supervision of other on-ice instructorsProvide feedback to OSHP Hockey Development Team on ice-times and programsOther duties as assigned by OSHP Hockey Development TeamHealth & Safety Responsibilities and AccountabilitiesResponsible for ensuring that all areas covered by Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) are adhered to, specifically:Working in compliance with the provisions of the OHSA, regulations and internal policies and proceduresUsing or wearing protective equipment, devises or clothing when requiredReporting any missing or defective equipment or protective device which could endanger himself or herself or another team memberReporting any contravention of the OHSA, regulations or SSE policies and proceduresTrainingResponsible for completing on-line training modules as required, including, but not limited to:Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability - Customer Service Standards TrainingIASR: Information and Communications StandardsUnderstanding Human Rights TrainingOntario Worker Health & Safety AwarenessWorkplace Hazardous Materials Information SystemViolence and Harassment in the WorkplaceMay also be required to attend in office training sessions as scheduled.Qualifications (what we look for)Previous hockey/skating experience at a high levelPrevious coaching/instructional experienceComfortable and enjoy working with children of all agesStrong teaching skillsTeam playerProfessional demeanorStrong work ethicAbility to work flexible hours (consistency in specific nights each week is considered an asset)NCCP/Hockey Canada Coaching Certification is considered an assetWho We AreThe Sensplex Facilities, an affiliate of the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club, are Ottawa's premier destinations for hockey, sports, and community events.
