Company Overview Our client is a purpose‑driven public company in the life sciences sector, growing rapidly from 370 employees toward 500+ in the next two years. The company is dedicated to developing therapies and treatments, supported by a collaborative team of talented professionals.Role Overview The HR Director will lead a 12‑14 month contract (potentially evolving) focused on HR operations, SOX and HR compliance, and business partnership for a highly technical team.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage HR Operations, including transactional HR work and team leadership of four HR staff.Act as Human Resources Business Partner for selected departments in Discovery.Support key program areas such as HR policy, performance management, and operational risk mitigation.Ensure auditable HR processes, uphold strong standards and compliance with a service‑oriented approach.Collaborate with senior leadership, external advisors, and suppliers across all jurisdictions.Co‑coach and develop team members on detailed or transactional activities.QualificationsRelevant undergraduate degree; graduate degree in Human Resources or Business Management preferred with focus in finance and/or legal training.10+ years of progressive HR management experience in a public,
multinational life sciences organization experiencing rapid growth; experience with scientific or technical teams preferred.Strong understanding of employee life‑cycle activities, HR processes, and the ability to integrate process, systems, and technology.Experience in Canadian and U.S. employment, human rights, and immigration laws.Demonstrated ability to build and maintain accurate, auditable HR processes and mitigate operational risks.Strong abstract reasoning, critical thinking, business acumen, and ability to manage change and ambiguity.Proven leadership skills with influencing, conflict resolution, and collaboration; capability to build credibility and trust inside and outside the company.High level of empathy, maturity, and sound judgment, balancing business needs with employee advocacy.Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.Location Burnaby, BC – Hybrid arrangement, requiring a minimum of two onsite days per week.Compensation Base salary ranging from $150,000–$200,000, competitive completion bonus, full perks package, vacation allowance, and an annual office shutdown.#J-18808-Ljbffr
