Contribute to social justice as a Mid-Level Contract Lawyer at the Peterborough Community Legal Centre. Help prioritize access to legal services for low-income clients in a supportive, community-focused setting.
This full-time role is a 10-month fixed-term contract ideal for a committed junior to mid-level lawyer. You will focus on providing Tenant Duty Counsel services and advocacy in housing and social assistance law. The position requires strong communication, advocacy skills, and team collaboration in a high-demand environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist clients with legal advice and representation
• Provide Tenant Duty Counsel services during tribunal hearings
• Coordinate community educational initiatives
• Engage in substantive law reform advocacy
• Keep exact case documentation and reports
Requirements:
• Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
• Experience with housing law and tribunal representation
• Strong skills in advocacy and communication
• Capable of managing a busy caseload independently
• Requirement for COVID-19 vaccination unless exempt
