Developmental Support Worker / Personal Support Worker - Angus, ON - CAD$162.00/week We’re seeking a compassionate, patient caregiver to support a military veteran managing CPTSD, ADHD, DID, GAD, social anxiety disorder, bulimia nervosa, and other trauma-related conditions. The primary goal is to help establish and maintain daily routines that support mental health, physical wellness, and overall quality of life.
About the Client Our client is a military veteran who recently transitioned to civilian life and is working hard to build sustainable routines. They live with their spouse and 4-year-old son who has autism. The client is actively engaged in multiple therapies including psychotherapy for CPTSD, DID treatment, and eating disorder support. They struggle with routine adherence, memory retention after appointments, and periods of depression that disrupt daily functioning. The client is motivated to improve and recognizes the need for external support to break cycles of inactivity and build healthier patterns.
Responsibilities Provide body-doubling support to help the client stay on task with daily activities including physiotherapy exercises scheduled for Tues/Thurs mornings.
Assist with full meal preparation and encourage healthy eating habits.
Provide medication reminders and support adherence to prescribed treatment plans.
Offer memory prompts and gentle redirection for cognitive support.
Help with cleaning, laundry, and light housekeeping tasks.
Support the client in developing and following through with daily schedules and routines.
Provide companionship and positive encouragement throughout visits.
What We’re Looking For Experience working with individuals with PTSD, trauma-related conditions, and complex mental health needs.
Understanding of ADHD and the importance of routine and structure.
Calm, patient, and non-judgmental demeanor.
Reliable and consistent presence.
Ability to bring positive energy while respecting difficult days.
Clear communication skills.
Comfortable working in a home with a young child with autism.
English-speaking.
Schedule Morning visits three times per week, focusing on weekday mornings to help jumpstart the day.
Flexible schedule may be adjusted based on client needs and progress.
Initial support may extend beyond two weeks as routines are established.

Additional Considerations Client is a 14-year military veteran managing CPTSD, ADHD, DID, GAD, social anxiety disorder, bulimia nervosa, and other trauma-related disorders. Primary need is establishing and maintaining daily routines. Client experiences difficulty with retention after therapy appointments, struggles with resistance to completing tasks, and cycles through periods of depression. Body doubling technique is helpful - caregiver presence helps client stay on track even if caregiver is doing separate tasks. Client is working to rediscover personal interests beyond pole dancing, which was previously a healthy outlet. Four-year-old son with autism in the home. Client's husband works as military police instructor on base with weekends off. Client is motivated to break cycles and become more present for family.
