We are looking for a warm, energetic and dependable caregiver/companion for our mother on weekends.
Schedule: Sunday, 9:00 am–9:00 pm
11 hours/week, ongoing position
Location: Toronto – Wynford Drive/Don Mills area
Our mother lives in a lovely senior residence and is physically quite independent. She requires very little physical assistance. The role is primarily companionship, supervision and gentle cueing to help her stay active and follow her daily routine.
A typical day might include:
- Going for walks, exercising or attending activities at her residence
- Going out for coffee, to the Aga Khan Museum, mall or other nearby outings
- Providing companionship and conversation
- Cueing with showering, dressing, grooming and oral hygiene
- Reminding her to drink water and use the washroom regularly
- Helping her choose healthy meals
- Encouraging her to participate in social activities
- Occasional light laundry/tidying
- Sending the family a brief update at the end of the day
She is social and enjoys getting out of the house, walking, activities and going for coffee. We are looking for someone who will actively engage with her rather than simply sit with her.
The ideal person is kind, patient, positive, reliable and comfortable working with an older adult who perks from reminders and routine.
Previous senior-care experience is preferred. PSW training is welcome but not required for the right experienced candidate.
Pay: $20/hour depending on experience.
We are hoping to find someone interested in a consistent, long-term weekend position.
Please message us with a little about yourself, your caregiving experience, availability, and references.
