Job Description:
Director, RN Infection Prevention & Control Bring Your Infection Prevention Leadership Experience to AdventHealth
Bring your expertise in infection prevention, clinical leadership, and healthcare quality to AdventHealth Ottawa. As the AdventHealth Ottawa Registered Nurse Infection Prevention & Control Director , you will provide strategic direction, clinical expertise, and operational oversight for the Infection Prevention and Control program.
This leadership role is responsible for advancing patient safety, reducing healthcare-associated infections, supporting regulatory compliance, and developing a high-performing infection prevention team.
Through collaboration, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement, the RN Infection Prevention & Control Director will help strengthen infection prevention practices across the organization.
Location: Ottawa, Kansas
Schedule/Shift: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; no weekends
Schedule Flexibility: Some flexibility may be required to accommodate shift workers
What You’ll Do As the Registered Nurse Infection Prevention & Control Director , you will lead the strategic direction and daily operations of the Infection Prevention and Control program at AdventHealth Ottawa.

Align infection prevention goals with organizational priorities and translate strategic vision into measurable operational outcomes.

Lead infection prevention surveillance, risk identification, intervention implementation, mitigation strategies, and outbreak response across care settings.

Partner with the Corporate Executive Medical Director of Infection Prevention,



Corporate Director of Infection Prevention, medical staff, clinical leaders, and administrative teams to identify gaps and implement effective solutions.

Direct data-driven decision-making by ensuring infection prevention data is accurate, timely, and effectively used to identify trends and guide action plans.

Use infection prevention informatics, surveillance technologies, reporting systems, analytics, and visualization tools to support strategic planning and infection trend forecasting.

Lead facility-wide quality improvement initiatives focused on reducing healthcare-associated infections and advancing patient safety.

Build, mentor, and support a high-performing Infection Prevention and Control team while fostering accountability, professional growth, stewardship, and clinical excellence.

Serve as a clinical and operational resource to interdisciplinary teams, executive leadership, medical staff, and community partners.

Lead the development and implementation of infection prevention education in alignment with evidence-based practices, organizational needs, and regulatory requirements.

Guide infection prevention risk assessments, process assessments, diagnostic stewardship initiatives, and action planning.

Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, accreditation, infection prevention, cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, and healthcare standards.

Collaborate with internal teams to support antimicrobial stewardship initiatives.

Lead the integration of infection prevention research and evidence into clinical practice by guiding the team in synthesizing evidence, designing studies, and evaluating outcomes.

Promote ethical standards and professional practice consistent with Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology guidelines.

Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, external public health agencies, and community partners to advance infection prevention outcomes across the continuum of care.

Communicate program priorities, performance results, risks, and improvement opportunities to leaders and key stakeholders.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of epidemiological principles and infectious diseases.





Knowledge of sterilization, sanitation, disinfection, and environmental infection prevention practices.

Knowledge of healthcare-associated infection surveillance, reporting, and prevention strategies.

Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation requirements related to infection prevention and patient safety.

Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop effective action plans.

Ability to lead quality improvement initiatives and evaluate outcomes.

Ability to mentor, develop, and inspire an interdisciplinary team.

Strong communication, collaboration, consultation, and relationship-building skills.

Ability to influence clinical and operational decision-making across multiple departments.

Commitment to ethical standards, evidence-based practice, patient safety, and continuous improvement.

Education Associate degree in Nursing required.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.

Work Experience Four or more years of infection prevention or hospital-based nursing experience required.

Management or formal leadership experience preferred.

Licenses and Certifications Registered Nurse license required.

Ready to Make a Difference? Pay Range: $95,266.71 - $177,196.08
