Shape the future of special education in this School Based Resource Teacher position at Kalamalka Secondary. Focused on developing IEPs, this role emphasizes collaboration and innovation.
Starting October 1, 2026, this temporary contract will last until June 25, 2027, or the return of the current teacher. As a qualified resource teacher, you will advocate for students with various educational needs and work within a multi-disciplinary team. Your expertise in special education and inclusive practices will greatly enhance the educational experience for students requiring additional support.
Key Responsibilities:
• Create, evaluate, and adapt Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
• Collaborate with specialists and classroom staff
• Conduct assessments and monitor student progress
• Manage and guide Certified Education Assistants
• Implement positive behavior support strategies
Requirements:
• Valid BC Teaching Certificate
• Master's Degree in Special Education or equivalent
• At least five years of mainstream teaching experience
• Two years within a special education setting
• Formal Level B assessment training and knowledge of educational strategies
