Become a key educator as an Instructor for NTEP Inuktut Language and Culture in Iqaluit, NU. Focus on delivering impactful Inuktut courses while fostering cultural understanding among future teachers.
This full time role supports the Nunavut Teacher Education Program under the Manager of Teacher Education Programs. You will provide comprehensive instruction in Inuktut, guiding students toward bilingualism and cultural competency. Teaching may occur at Nunatta Campus and other Nunavut locations, covering additional subjects like Inuit History and Identity.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design courses focusing on Inuktut language proficiency
• Assess and evaluate student performance
• Provide insights on integrating Inuit culture into programs
• Teach supplementary courses as required
• Engage with Faculty of Education partnerships
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in education or relevant discipline
• Fluency in both written and spoken Inuktut
• Experience teaching at both elementary and post-secondary levels
• Familiarity with Inuit cultural and historical studies
• Preference given to Nunavut Inuit residents
