Step into a key leadership role as the L'nu Health Lead at Cape Breton University. This full-time position addresses health disparities in Mi’kmaq communities while integrating Indigenous knowledge and practices.
As part of Unama’ki College, you will engage directly with Elders and community members to develop health initiatives that promote holistic wellness. Building strong relationships within L’nu communities and engaging in research are essential aspects of this role. Your expertise will guide the preparation of future Mi’kmaw health professionals and enhance community health capacities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Engage with community members for health initiatives
• Build trusting relationships in Nova Scotia's L’nu communities
• Implement research projects utilizing L’nu knowledge
• Collaborate on health education strategies with MINES
• Provide annual updates on progress
Requirements:
• Must be of L’nu descent or connected to the community
• Fluency in Mi’kmaw highly beneficial
• At least an undergraduate degree in health
• Demonstrated health expertise and cultural competency
• Solid communicator with leadership skills
