Overview Our client is seeking an Intermediate Project Manager to support an in-flight payment rail delivery and cloud migration initiative within a complex financial services technology environment. This role will support the MPay / Zelle stream, taking ownership of ongoing project delivery, integration coordination, cloud migration activities, release readiness, and any mandatory payment rail work that arises during the engagement.
The ideal candidate is a strong intermediate Project Manager with banking technology delivery experience, payments exposure, and the ability to quickly ramp into a mid-flight project through knowledge transfer and shadowing. Direct MPay or Zelle experience would be highly valuable, but is not required. The priority is a PM who understands structured delivery, can manage dependencies, communicate clearly, stay on top of execution, and maintain strong project discipline in a hands-on technical stakeholder environment.
Responsibilities Act as the Project Manager for ongoing MPay / Zelle payment rail delivery activities.
Support the remaining cloud migration and integration work tied to the payment rail portfolio.
Manage project execution across technology, integration, infrastructure, vendor, operations, and business stakeholder groups.
Coordinate the delivery lifecycle, including planning, dependency tracking, milestone management, testing coordination, release readiness, implementation support, and post-release follow-up.
Track and manage project risks, issues, blockers, action items, and key decisions.
Support delivery of mandatory annual payment rail work as required.
Maintain project plans, RAID logs, status reports, financial tracking, and governance documentation.
Coordinate knowledge transfer and transition activities from the outgoing PM to ensure continuity of delivery.
Work closely with hands-on technical stakeholders to ensure timelines, project plans,



and delivery expectations are realistic and properly managed.
Provide clear, concise status updates to delivery leadership and stakeholders.
Support project financial management, including monthly forecasting, variance awareness, budget tracking, and coordination with external/shared-service teams.
Help ensure project management discipline is maintained across planning, reporting, delivery governance, risk management, and execution.
Escalate issues appropriately while maintaining practical ownership of follow-up and resolution.
Must-Haves 5+ years of project management experience within banking, financial services, payments, or complex enterprise technology environments.
Experience supporting technology delivery projects involving integrations, cloud migration, platform modernization, or payment-related systems.
Direct experience with Zelle, MPay, FedNow, TCH, RTP, ACH, EFT, wires, or other North American payment rails.
Exposure to payments, digital banking, transaction processing, payment rails, or financial services technology delivery.
Strong understanding of project delivery fundamentals, including planning, timelines, RAID management, dependency tracking, status reporting, and stakeholder coordination.
Ability to ramp quickly into an in-flight project through knowledge transfer and shadowing.
Experience coordinating across technical teams, business stakeholders, vendors, infrastructure teams, and operations groups.
Working knowledge of Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery environments.
Basic-to-intermediate project financial management experience,



including forecasting, budget tracking, variance awareness, and monthly financial updates.
Solid communication skills with the ability to provide clear, concise, and accurate updates.
Confidence working with hands-on technical leaders and pushing back diplomatically when project ownership, timelines, or governance expectations need to be clarified.
Experience using project delivery tools such as Jira, Confluence, Clarity, Planview, MS Project, SharePoint, ServiceNow, or similar.
Nice-to-Haves Experience supporting payment rail modernization, payment platform migration, or payment system integration.
Cloud migration experience involving payment systems, digital banking platforms, APIs, or legacy/on-prem applications.
Experience managing release readiness, implementation planning, production deployment, operational readiness, and hypercare.
Experience working with external vendors, payment processors, shared-service teams, or cross-border technology teams.
Familiarity with payment network mandatory change work, annual compliance updates, or recurring rail-driven delivery requirements.
Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal candidate is a practical, execution-focused Project Manager who can step into an active payment rail project and keep delivery moving with limited disruption. They should be comfortable working with technical teams, managing dependencies, keeping plans and financials organized, and communicating clearly with stakeholders.
This person does not need to be a deeply specialized Zelle or MPay SME, but they should understand banking technology delivery and have enough payments exposure to ramp quickly. They should also be confident enough to maintain proper PM discipline in an environment where technical stakeholders may be highly hands-on and expectations around PM ownership may need to be managed carefully.
