As a member of the Healthcare Infrastructure Division of Build Nova Scotia, the Project Officer is a key member of the Build NS Healthcare Infrastructure Team, responsible for delivering Central Zone healthcare infrastructure projects across the full project lifecycle, from planning and design through construction, commissioning, and transition to operations. This role supports major redevelopment initiatives associated with the Acute Care Tower, including campus-wide IMIT and Information, Communication and Automation Technology (ICAT) integration projects, Clinical Equipment and Technology Integration (CETI) projects and Project Delivery. In doing so, the Project Officer helps ensure alignment between infrastructure delivery, clinical planning, digital systems, clinical equipment, and operational readiness.
Reporting to a Project Manager, this role provides project management, technical and administrative support for major healthcare redevelopment initiatives.
Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary project teams, consultants, users, and operational stakeholders, the Project Officer contributes to the effective coordination, communication, and delivery of projects in alignment with approved objectives, standards, and requirements.
The Project Officer may also be responsible for integrating clinical equipment and technology requirements into the overall project specifications and schedules. Included in this would be participating and supporting functional design planning, specification writing, drawing review, cost estimation, sourcing, evaluation, commissioning, and document coordination. The role may involve overseeing consultants and contractors and working closely with stakeholders and clinicians to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with established project objectives.
