Advance Indigenous learner success at Georgian College as the Senior Director of Indigenous Strategies in a hybrid working arrangement. This pivotal role focuses on driving reconciliation and Indigenization initiatives.
The Director will report to the Vice President of Student Success and will play a significant role in implementing Georgian's Indigenization strategy, Maajiishkaadaa. Through community engagement and traditional knowledge, the Director will shape policies and foster relationships that ensure Georgian is a premier institution for Indigenous students. A robust understanding of Indigenous history is crucial.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee the implementation of Maajiishkaadaa
• Advise college leadership on Indigenous perspectives and strategies
• Develop Indigenous-focused courses and community outreach programs
• Establish relationships with Indigenous organizations and networks
• Represent Georgian in external Indigenous education forums
Requirements:
• 9+ years of relevant leadership experience
• Extensive knowledge in Indigenous training and education
• Strong relationship-building skills within Indigenous communities
• Effective communication abilities and mediation skills
• Expertise in data management and analysis
