Support student success at the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board as an Educational Assistant. This 17.5 hours/week position focuses on students with exceptional needs in a collaborative school environment.
In this term role, you'll assist students with various disabilities, facilitate special programs, and support physical activities like physiotherapy. You'll collaborate with teaching staff and contribute to a nurturing learning setting. Candidates should have a college diploma in Developmental Services Worker or Child and Youth Care and a minimum of 1-2 years' experience working with special needs children.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist students with Autism and learning disabilities
• Collaborate on special programs and pool activities
• Manage yard duties, lifting,
and toileting tasks
• Maintain accurate records of student behavior
• Engage in assistive technology use and behaviour modification
Requirements:
• Diploma in relevant developmental service fields
• At least 1-2 years of hands-on experience
• First Aid and CPR certification is an asset
• Trained in Behaviour Management Systems (BMS)
• Strong observational and teamwork skills
