Job Description Plans, delivers, and evaluates competency-based orientation and continuing education programs Conducts needs assessments, provides recommendations, and plans and implements education programs with a collaborative approach that supports strategic objectives, innovation and evidence-based practice and subsequent coordination and facilitation of staff education Provide education support and mentorship to create a one-team approach for safe, high-quality care.
Identify opportunities, challenges, and proactive solutions to support the educational needs and requirements with respect to new workflows and policies Support with accreditation activities and initiatives from an education perspective Supports staff and acts as a resource in identifying and meeting their own learning needs Coordinates student clinical placements in conjunction with Department Managers and educational institutions Create learning environments that support professional growth and accountability in a variety of settings (clinical, classroom, simulation, etc.) Monitor and evaluate integration of learning into clinical practice for example: through documentation audits, review of use of learning management system by nursing teams.
Partner with members of the management team to establish recommendations and plan for improvement and/or achievement of clinical excellence Promote staff well-being through mental health education, debriefing and other supports.
Design content that optimizes adult learning principles and variety of formats to address needs of diverse learners Qualifications Bachelors degree required; Masters degree preferred (or in progress) Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario Completion of Fundamentals of Palliative Care, LEAP, and/or CAPCE 2+ years experience in a nursing educator role required, preferred Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) training preferred Consultative,
team-based management style with robust problem-solving skills Excellent Nursing Skills and ability to learn and teach new clinical procedures (wound care, palliative care, dementia care) Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of adult education Demonstrated ability to design curriculum and create engaging content for learning management systems Demonstrated leadership skills and proven effectiveness as coach and mentor Knowledge and comfort with mobile technology and documentation Demonstrated ability to lead during times of change and role-model effective change management Experience utilizing Microsoft products (Sharepoint, Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint) and ability to learn proprietary software Ability to work flexible hours, if needed.
