Director of Operations The Director of Operations serves as the chief visionary and strategic leader of the George Gordon First Nation (GGFN) community. This role involves providing overall direction and leadership to ensure the effective governance and management of the community. The Director of Operation collaborates closely with the Chief and Council to develop and implement long-term strategic plans that align with the George Gordon First Nations goals and cultural values.

Additionally, the Director of Operations represents George Gordon First Nation in external affairs, building partnerships and advocating for the community’s interests at various levels of government and with external organizations.

Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction.

Recruits, manages and directs GGFN’s senior management team, oversees all human resource activities and organizes the workplace to effectively and efficiently implement GGFN’s vision and goals

Oversee financial management and sustainability,



which includes working with the senior management team to oversee budget development and tracking.

Oversees the delivery of community programs and services.

Ensure compliance of effective governance practices, policies and regulations.

Community Engagement Foster solid relationships with community members by regularly facilitating community meetings to provide updates about the “state of the nation”.

Promote community involvement in decision-making processes.

Represent the First Nation at public events, meetings, and with external organizations.

Lead or participate in negotiation agreements and partnerships that benefit the community.

Bachelor’s degree in business management, Public Administration, Indigenous Studies, or related experience. Master’s degree preferred.

Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a First Nation or Indigenous organization.

Demonstrated leadership and management skills.

Based on work experience, training, and education.
