Chief Operating Officer & General Counsel CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER (COO) & GENERAL COUNSEL The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for leading operational performance across Siksika Group's diverse portfolio of companies. Reporting to the CEO, the COO will translate strategic vision into operational execution while ensuring each business operates efficiently, compliantly, and in alignment with the organization's long-term objectives. This role requires a collaborative and commercially minded executive with solid operational leadership experience, a solid understanding of governance and legal frameworks, and the ability to build alignment across multiple business units.
The COO will serve as a trustedlegal counsel and strategic advisor to the CEO and executive leadership team, providing sound judgment and guidance on operational, legal, governance, risk, and business matters. The successful candidate will leverage their legal knowledge and experience to identify and mitigate risk, navigate complex agreements and regulatory requirements, strengthen governance practices, and support informed executive decision-making. The successful candidate will foster operational excellence while balancing commercial priorities with Indigenous values, community objectives, and long-term organizational interests.

Monitor organizational performance through key performance indicators (KPIs). Identify opportunities to improve operational effectiveness and long‑term business performance.
Establish governance frameworks, reporting structures, and accountability systems. Partner with legal advisors to ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and Indigenous regulations. Support contract oversight, corporate governance, and enterprise risk management.
Apply legal and governance principles to operational decision‑making and policy development. Oversee day‑to‑day operations across all subsidiaries and business units. Drive operational efficiency, cost management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Financial & Business Performance Partner with finance leadership to oversee budgets, profitability, and financial performance. Manage operational and financial risks across the organization. Support sustainable growth and long‑term value creation.
Leadership & Community Engagement Build strong relationships with community leaders, government, and industry stakeholders. Ensure operations align with Indigenous values, community priorities, and cultural awareness. Legal background (LLB, JD, or equivalent). ~ Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, or a related discipline. ~ MBA or equivalent graduate degree is considered an asset. ~5–7+ years of progressive executive leadership experience in operations or general management. ~ Strong understanding of corporate governance, compliance, and risk management. ~ Demonstrated financial leadership, including budgeting and performance management. ~ Experience building strategic partnerships across government, industry, and community stakeholders.
