Salary: To be commensurate with qualifications and experience in the range of $88,583 - $104,215 per annum.

Responsibilities

Acadia's School of Counselling is seeking an experienced and collaborative Clinic Director to provide clinic leadership and oversight of counselling at the Acadia Counselling Centre. The Acadia Counselling Centre supports the health, well-being, and academic success of Acadia students by providing accessible counselling services and connecting students with appropriate resources and supports. The Clinic Director will provide clinical leadership for the Centre while contributing to campus-wide initiatives that promote student wellness, mental health awareness, and student success.

Reporting to the Director, School of Counselling, the Clinic Director is responsible for the overall clinical leadership and delivery of counselling services at the Acadia Counselling Centre. The position provides supervision, training, mentorship, and evaluation for counselling staff and student interns while ensuring that services meet applicable professional, regulatory, and accreditation standards.

The Clinic Director will also play an significant role in developing student counselling initiatives, collaborating with campus partners and post-secondary and sector organizations, and representing the Counselling Centre on committees and working groups focused on student mental health, wellness, education, and success.This is an opportunity for a skilled clinical professional to combine clinical leadership, supervision, program development, training, and campus collaboration in support of Acadia's student community.

Specific Responsibilities will include

- Provide leadership in advancing the mission, goals, and objectives of the Acadia Counselling Centre.
- Provide clinical oversight for counselling services and support the delivery of high-quality, student-centred care.
- Supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate counselling staff and student interns.
- Provide direct and indirect clinical supervision to student interns, including ongoing feedback and support in accordance with practicum requirements.
- Collaborate with faculty to support the professional development and growth of student interns.
- Provide clinical consultation and supervision in response to emerging, urgent, or crisis situations.
- Monitor standards and performance indicators to support the evaluation and continuous improvement of counselling and wellness services.
- Coordinate data collection and measurement to support accurate tracking, evaluation, and reporting of relevant service statistics.
- Represent the Counselling Centre in the development of Healthy Campus initiatives.




- Represent Acadia University on provincial and local committees and working groups related to student mental health, counselling services, education, and awareness.
- Collaborate with campus partners to develop and support programs, research, and initiatives that promote student health, well-being, retention, and academic success, including student wellness assessments such as the Canadian Campus Wellbeing Survey.
- Partner with and provide guidance, as appropriate, to the Acadia Students' Union (ASU) Peer Support Centre and other peer support organizations.
- Develop and deliver educational resources, workshops, and training initiatives for faculty and staff supporting students who may require mental health or wellness assistance.
- Lead and participate in committees and working groups focused on student health and wellness.
- Develop and deliver training and educational events in collaboration with Residence Life, ASU Peer Support Programs, Athletics, faculty, and other campus partners.
- Ensure client records are maintained securely, accurately, and confidentially in accordance with applicable legislation, professional standards, and Centre requirements.
- Liaise with program faculty regarding practicum student needs, challenges, and development.
- Participate in School of Counselling faculty meetings and provide updates regarding Centre operations, service delivery, and emerging needs.

What you'll need

Qualifications

- A Master's degree in Counselling, Counselling Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in counselling, clinical practice, mental health, or a related area.
- Current registration or licensure with an appropriate regulatory body, such as the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists (NSCCT), Nova Scotia Regulator of Psychology (NSRP), or Nova Scotia College of Social Workers (NSCSW), and be in good standing.
- Demonstrated experience providing clinical supervision, mentorship, and/or training to counselling professionals or students.
- Experience working with student interns or within a clinical training environment is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge of professional, ethical, regulatory, and accreditation requirements related to counselling and mental health services.
- Experience supporting individuals experiencing a range of mental health and wellness concerns, including the ability to respond appropriately to urgent or crisis situations.
- Experience developing or delivering training, workshops, educational programming, or outreach initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to build effective collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, students, community organizations, and professional partners.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to student-centred, inclusive, accessible, and culturally responsive mental health services.
