Blue Canoe Productions is a youth theatre and arts organization which strives to provide youth aged 30 and under with opportunities to explore their interest in theatre and the arts. The Performance Arts Instructor will support, facilitate, plan and instruct musical theatre classes, private classes in a variety of subjects and other educational opportunities for children aged 3-17. There will also be opportunity to work full day camps on P.A. Days or March Break Camps.

Key Responsibilities:

- To create comprehensive lesson plans that support students in reaching the set learning goals.
- To create a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
- Supporting in the creation and facilitation of additional programming when appropriate under the guidance of the Managing Director and General Manager.
- Communicating with parents/guardians.
- Producing, managing, and directing a piece for each class to perform for the final performance.
- Supporting program participants 1:1 and in small and large group settings.
- To help maintain a clean and organized studio space.
- To provide written feedback to students at the end of each term
- Leading camps for ages 4-12 on P.A. Days and March Break.

Education & Experience





- Formal training or education within performance arts and/or the production of performance arts will be considered valuable
- Previous experience working with children is an asset
- Experience and understanding of Theatre, Music or Dance.
- Solid time management and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Experience working within a not-for-profit setting is an asset
- Experience and/or deep understanding of Blue Canoe Productions’ mandate, vision and values is an important asset

Requirements

- CPIC with vulnerable sector screening from the last 6 months
- Experience and understanding of a wide variety of dance styles, and the theatre industry.
