Job Title : Data Analyst
6-month contract | Hybrid in the Greater Vancouver Metropolitan Area | Closing Date: Wednesday, August 26, 2026 | Must hold a valid Canadian Work Visa
Our client, a major public transportation organization in the Greater Vancouver region, is seeking an experienced Data Analyst to support a major Enterprise Asset Management transformation program modernizing asset, maintenance, inventory, workforce, finance, and reporting capabilities. The role will work across a complex enterprise data setting involving data warehouses, lakehouses, reporting platforms, integrations, and analytics solutions.
This is a highly technical data role with a strong emphasis on enterprise data modelling, data quality, data architecture, data warehouse remediation, metadata, and data validation . The successful candidate will assess the impact of system and business-process changes on enterprise data structures and help ensure data remains accurate, consistent, governed, and fit for downstream reporting and analytics.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze enterprise data and advise business and technical stakeholders on data management practices and standards
- Assess business processes, data flows, and system changes to identify data requirements, anomalies, duplication, gaps, and opportunities for improvement
- Perform impact assessments to determine how application, source-system, and business-process changes affect the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and downstream reporting environments
- Design, redesign, and maintain conceptual, logical, physical, dimensional, and semantic data models
- Define facts, dimensions, hierarchies, relationships, business rules, and conformed dimensions for enterprise analytics
- Develop scalable data models supporting data warehouse, lakehouse, semantic, reporting, and analytics environments
- Translate business requirements into detailed data requirements and enterprise data structures in collaboration with architects, engineers, developers, and business stakeholders
- Assess downstream impacts to reports, dashboards, cubes, semantic models, integrations, and other data products
- Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, consolidate, and optimize enterprise data structures
- Develop and maintain source-to-target mappings across operational systems, integration layers, data warehouses, lakehouses, and reporting environments
- Establish traceability between source data, transformations, business rules, data models, and reporting outputs
- Define and implement data quality rules, monitoring procedures, controls, and assessments
- Investigate data quality issues and determine their potential impact on business operations and reporting
- Maintain technical and business metadata, definitions, naming conventions, and data standards
- Support enterprise data governance and stewardship initiatives
- Perform data profiling, reconciliation, and validation activities
- Review source-to-target mappings and verify transformation logic
- Develop and execute data test cases and validation scripts for pre- and post-load testing
- Support UAT, defect triage, root-cause analysis, and resolution of data discrepancies in collaboration with QA, development, and business teams
- Evaluate emerging data management technologies and recommend improvements to enterprise data practices and strategy
Qualifications:
- Strong hands-on experience with the Microsoft Azure data ecosystem , ideally including Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Databricks, Delta Lake, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Synapse, Spark, Microsoft Fabric, and Power BI
- Strong SQL skills are mandatory
- Strong experience designing and working with enterprise data warehouses
- Strong experience with logical and physical data modelling , with exposure to conceptual, dimensional, and semantic modelling
- Experience with Microsoft database technologies; Azure Synapse experience is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of data analysis techniques, database design concepts, and data management best practices
- Experience supporting enterprise data architecture , data governance, and data stewardship initiatives
- Experience defining and implementing data quality frameworks, rules, controls, and monitoring processes
- Experience working with technical and business metadata repositories
- Strong understanding of enterprise data standards, definitions, lineage, and source-to-target mapping
- Experience translating business requirements into technical data requirements and scalable data solutions
- Business and systems analysis capabilities, including an understanding of systems development methodologies
- Experience working cross-functionally with business teams, application support, data engineers, data warehouse teams, developers, architects, and project teams
- Experience preparing data test cases and scripts and performing data validation is highly desirable
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery environments
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills
