Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Carpentry Foreman to lead our team of carpenters in the construction of multi-family residential buildings, low and mid-rise structures, and mixed-use and commercial projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive carpentry experience, proven leadership abilities, and a strong focus on safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
Supervise and coordinate the activities of carpenters and construction personnel in office, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and according to project schedules.
Project Management
Oversee the construction of carpentry components, including framing, sheathing, and finishing, ensuring all work meets architectural plans and specifications.
Quality Control
Regularly inspect work to ensure it meets quality standards and adheres to project requirements. Address any issues or discrepancies promptly.
Safety Oversight
Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment. Conduct safety meetings and ensure compliance with local regulations.
Resource Management
Efficiently manage materials, tools, and equipment. Monitor inventory levels, order additional supplies as needed, and ensure proper use and maintenance of resources.
Communication
Act as the primary liaison between the construction team, project managers, and clients.
Provide regular updates on project progress, address any concerns, and facilitate clear communication.
Problem Solving
Identify and resolve any issues or challenges that arise on-site, including those related to work quality, safety, and project timelines.
Training & Development:
Mentor and train carpenters and other team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and skill development.
Qualifications
Experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience in carpentry, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or foreman role.
Skills
Robust proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings. Extensive knowledge of construction methods, materials, and carpentry tools.
Leadership
Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team, manage multiple tasks effectively, and handle complex projects with attention to detail.
Safety Knowledge
Comprehensive understanding of safety regulations and best practices in construction.
Communication Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with the capability to interact effectively with team members, clients, and project stakeholders.
Certifications
Relevant certifications and training in carpentry and construction safety (e.g., OSHA, First Aid) are preferred.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in carpentry is advantageous.
