General Manager — Concrete Formwork
Fairbrothers Formwork Ltd. is seeking an energetic, results-driven, and highly experienced General Manager to join our executive leadership team in Richmond, BC.
This is a full time, high-impact role responsible for overseeing all operational, technical, financial, and strategic aspects of our concrete formwork operations across the Lower Mainland. Reporting directly to ownership, you will lead our estimating, project management, engineering detailing, and field execution teams to drive company growth, deliver complex projects safely and profitability, and maintain our high standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities
As General Manager, you will hold overall responsibility for the performance, profitability, safety, and operational excellence of the business. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Executive Leadership & Operations: Direct day-to-day operations across office and field teams (Estimating, Detailers, Project Managers, Superintendents, and Site Crews) to ensure operational alignment, accountability, and project success.
- Project Oversight & Execution: Oversee project planning, scheduling, and delivery for high-rise residential, commercial, and heavy concrete structures. Ensure all formwork, shoring, and placing operations are executed on schedule, within budget, and in strict compliance with safety regulations and engineering standards.
- Financial Management & Profitability: Manage overall operational budgets, project margins, cash flows, and resource allocation. Review and approve project estimates, subcontracts,
major procurement orders, and monthly progress billings to maximize profitability.
- Client & Industry Relations: Act as the key liaison with developers, General Contractors, structural engineers, trade partners, and suppliers across the Lower Mainland to win new business, negotiate contracts, and strengthen industry relationships.
- Resource & Workforce Optimization: Oversee labor scheduling, equipment allocation (forming systems, cranes, pumps, and hardware), and subcontractor management across multiple active job sites to maximize resource efficiency.
- Site Inspections & Field Presence: Regularly visit and inspect local job sites to review progress, verify constructability, support site superintendents, enforce quality control/safety policies, and resolve complex field issues.
- Strategic Growth & Team Development: Drive corporate growth strategies, mentor and develop junior and mid-level technical staff, and foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and collaboration.
Qualifications To be successful in this role, you must possess:
- Relevant Experience: A minimum of 10+ years of progressive leadership and operational experience in Concrete Formwork Construction (e.g., General Manager, Operations Manager, Senior Project Manager, or Senior Superintendent).
- Technical Formwork Expertise:
In-depth knowledge of reinforced concrete construction, engineering standards, safety regulations, and various formwork systems (table forms, wall forms, column forms, gang forms, climbing forms, and falsework).
- Driving Requirement: Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and reliable transportation for frequent travel between our Richmond office and job sites across the Lower Mainland.
- Financial & Business Acumen: Strong background in construction financial management, contract law/negotiation, lump-sum and unit-rate estimation, cost control, and project billing.
- Leadership & Communication: Exceptional leadership skills with a proven track record of managing multidisciplinary teams (office technical staff and field crews) and communicating effectively with clients, engineers, and executive management.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and conflict-resolution skills to solve high-stakes detailing, constructability, scheduling, and site logistics challenges.
- Education: A degree or technical diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building Technology, or equivalent combination of trade experience and executive leadership.
Compensation & Working Conditions
- Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent
- Base Compensation: $50.00 – $60.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)
- Incentive Bonus: Performance and profitability-based bonus structure
- Location: Primary office in Richmond, BC, with frequent travel to project sites throughout Greater Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.
Pay: $50.00-$60.00 per hour
