Security Architect
We're looking for a Security Architect to join an enterprise cybersecurity program covering roughly five concurrent projects across cloud, data protection, and platform security. This is a design and delivery seat: you own the written architecture, guide the engineers and third parties who deploy it, and sit inside project meetings making sure it actually lands. Heavy Azure focus, with an active API management migration as the highest-value piece of work in front of you.
Logistics: Remote, candidates should be in the Greater Toronto Area for occasional in-person team meetings.
Here's what you'll be doing:
- Own security architecture and design documentation across five or so active cybersecurity projects
- Lead the migration of scattered API implementations onto a centralized Azure API Management gateway, working directly with application teams, developers, and third-party vendors to move them across
- Guide developers through integration decisions, articulate the two or three viable options when something won't work, and debug when it doesn't
- Act as a technical product owner inside project delivery, partnering with the PM to keep scope on the rails, judge when pushback is legitimate, and know when to pivot
- Produce architecture that other people implement, then track that implementation through to delivery
- Support certificate lifecycle management and authentication architecture, including passwordless implementations
- Contribute security architecture to data protection and AI initiatives, including agentic AI implementations
- Work across cross-functional teams and multiple stakeholder groups with competing priorities
And what you need to have:
- Demonstrated enterprise security architecture experience, with defined and implemented designs you can walk through end to end, including scope and size
- Deep Microsoft Azure experience across Azure-native services, in a cloud-first environment
- Azure API Management, application gateway, and API gateway design and migration experience preferred
- Hands-on implementation background, enough to credibly guide the people doing the build
- Experience delivering inside structured project environments alongside project managers
- Applications and infrastructure security background rather than network route and switch
- Robust written architecture and design documentation skills
Nice to have:
- Microsoft Purview, ideally with Microsoft Fabric
- Palo Alto Networks: Strata, Cortex, and Prisma, at the SKU level
- Agentic AI implementation exposure, including Microsoft Copilot
- Automation strategy experience
- Platform-agnostic authentication and passwordless deployment experience
No CTC or sponsorship at this time.
