Drive impactful land use planning as an Island Planner at the Islands Trust on Salt Spring Island, BC. This hybrid role requires expert knowledge and active collaboration. As an Island Planner, you will oversee planning efforts related to community development and environmental protection within the Islands Trust framework. Reporting to the Regional Planning Manager, you'll ensure effective management and implementation of planning projects while engaging with First Nations.
Your role is essential in supporting Local Trust Committees and navigating complex planning processes. Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all planning activities in assigned local areas
- Process planning applications and prepare legal documents
- Conduct meetings with First Nations and other agencies
- Promote community engagement and best practices
- Ensure project completion in alignment with Trust Council policies Requirements:
- Graduate degree in land use planning or related discipline
- At least five years of experience in planning
- Valid driver’s license required
- Familiarity with planning legislation and best practices
