Position Details Location: Whitby, Ontario Shift: Monday-Thursday, 5:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Schedule: 4-day work week Wages: Competitive wages + overtime opportunities Benefits: Yes About the Position We are seeking a skilled, dependable and safety-conscious Shunting Operator who is comfortable working in a fast-paced outdoor yard environment. This position involves working primarily with 52-foot walking-floor trailers, moving loaded and empty trailers throughout the facility, positioning trailers in designated areas, preparing equipment for highway drivers, and assisting with light manual tasks when required. The ideal candidate is professional, patient and highly safety-minded, with strong situational awareness and the confidence to work around moving equipment and active yard traffic. Key Responsibilities Operate shunt trucks safely to move 52-foot trailers throughout the facility. Back, maneuver and position 52-foot trailers safely in tight and active yard spaces. Move and organize loaded and empty walking-floor trailers in designated areas. Prepare trailers for highway drivers, including ensuring trailers are properly positioned and ready for transport. Work safely in a busy outdoor industrial environment around active trucks, trailers, equipment and pedestrian traffic. Perform light manual labour and hands-on yard tasks as required to support daily operations. Conduct pre-trip inspections of shunt trucks and equipment.



Report mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly. Work closely with team members to keep yard operations organized and efficient. Follow all company policies, procedures and safety requirements. Requirements Valid AZ driver's licence Clean driver's abstract Demonstrated experience backing and positioning 52-foot trailers Comfortable maneuvering trailers in tight, active yard spaces Comfortable working outdoors in changing weather conditions and a busy industrial environment Willing and able to perform some light manual labour; strong situational awareness and ability to work well independently and as part of a team Why Join McCool Environmental Services?
