About the role:

The Hospital strives to deliver care that is centred on patientsand families. Patient and Family Centred Care (PFCC) is the provision of care that is respectful of, and responsive toindividual patient/family preferences, needs, and values and ensures that those values guide all decisions.



Creating acaring environment for patients and families ensures continuity of care and fosters a learning environment. Applicantsare required to have a demonstrated knowledge, understanding and commitment to this care philosophy.

Reporting to the Manager of Surgical Services, you will beresponsible for providing quality nursing care to patients including complex patient populations whose outcomes are notpredictable. As part of a multidisciplinary health care team, you will practice within the Professional Standards of theCollege of Nurses of Ontario, the Philosophy of patient and family centered care, mission vision, values and thepolicies of Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Applicants must have the following qualifications:

- Current unencumbered registration as a Registered Nurse withthe College of Nurses of Ontario, or the ability to become licensed with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current certification in BCLS.
- Recent knowledge in Surgical Nursing with experience caring forpre and postoperative surgical patients with TPN.
- Ability to use the Nursing Process (assessment, planning,implementation, evaluation) in conjunction with her/his basic and ongoing knowledge to arrive at individualized careplanning and delivery.
- Collaborates and provides consult to Registered PracticeNurse's when patients assigned to the RPN becomeunstable or have outcomes that are not as expected.
- Identify and recognize abnormal or unexpected patient responsesand take appropriate action.




- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple nursing interventions.
- Strong interprofessional and communication skills.
- Central Venous Line Management.

In addition to the above qualifications, preference will be givento applicants who:
- Have a certification, or recent continuing education inSurgical Nursing.
- Have a certification in Wound Care.

Salary Range: $41.150 to 58.980
